RESTORATION WORK on our organ began on Wednesday June 28th, 2017. The organ components that require repair have been shipped to the Casavant Frères workshop in St Hyacinthe, Quebec to be repaired and cleaned. The onsite cleaning of the organ will begin on Monday July 10th, 2017. Due to the restoration work the balcony will be closed until further notice. The workers from Casavant do not want anyone in the balcony while the organ is apart. This will protect the pipes and other materials related to the repair.   ORGAN RESTORATION UPDATE – We continue to wait for the return of the pipes and other organ components that were packaged and shipped on June 29th to the workshop in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec for cleaning and repair. One of the requirements listed in the Organ Restoration Contract was the painting of the organ bellows and blower room here at Zion. The Property Committee has arranged for the painting of this room and painting began on August 8th. It is not uncommon for the factories in Quebec to close their establishment and give all their employees summer holidays at the same time. The workshop in St. Hyacinthe is no exception. They are also taking a two week break so we have a small work delay. While we continue to wait the painting can be completed. The balcony will however continue to remain closed until further notice to protect the pipes and other materials related to the repair. Only the projectionist and the sexton will be allowed in the balcony.

ORGAN RESTORATION – Our Organ is Restored!   On Wednesday October 25th, 2017 the organ tuners and voicers from St. Hyacinthe, Quebec finished work on our organ. They had ideal working conditions, only a few interruptions, and little to no noise while they worked. The temperature fluctuated only 1 degree and the humidity remained constant so they were able to finish their work two days early. Today, Sunday October 29th, 2017- Reformation Sunday is the first time the congregation will hear the organ played since the end of June, 2017. We look forward with excitement to many years of beautiful organ music. A special event is planned in the near future to celebrate this joyous occasion.
